This is not new news, but it shows that there is something behind the push for this grid besides savings for us! BC Utilities Commission, in 2008, refused Fortis’s application for irradiating devices, which would be coordinated with Hydro, based on finding – the benefits do not justify the costs. Why else did the government eliminate any input by BCUC on this program? And why go forward with a program that has no benefits, and only problems? the NDP national conference is debating issues important to us: Health Canada, Exposure to RF radiation, but also they are talking about more regulation of cell towers, granting municipalities more authority re. siting (where now there is virtually none), healthy environment, and safety in work places. Right now people who are unaware that cell transmitters are near, are being exposed without their knowledge, e.g. roofers, painters, even kids changing signs at Macdonald’s or working near wifi modems at Starbucks, or teachers in schools with wifi. There are no standards or regulations that protect them. I’ve attached several other resolutions being discussed. I hope everyone will take the time, even if you do not support the NDP, to support these motions by writing to NDP MLAs and MPs. If the NDP will pass them and make them part of their platform, then perhaps the other major parties will do so as well. This is the first attempt by a major federal party to address these issue

VANCOUVER - March 23, 2013:
The people of BC under the leadership of former Premier Bill Vander Zalm and the Fight HST organization sealed the fate of the HST through a successful binding referendum in August of 2011.
“Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely,” said Sal Vetro. The BC Liberal government underestimated the power of the people to unite under a common cause for the common good.
On April 1, 2013 the HST will be eliminated and we will see the return of the old GST ( Goods and Services Tax ) and the much more limited in its application PST ( Provincial Sales Tax ). People questioned why it took so long to revert to the previous taxation system in BC, said Sal Vetro, leader of the BC First party.
The BC Politics on-line radio show will feature former premier Bill Vander Zalm discussing the doomed HST and the HST book he has been writing for the
past 18 months.

Swoosh! China is the third-largest and fastest-growing outbound tourism market in the world. With many of this new generation of sophisticated and independent Chinese travellers having an appetite for skiing, the research team of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) partnered with Tourism British Columbia and Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation to analyze this travel trend.
The 2012 China Ski Study offers insights into the potential of China’s ski market for Canada. The results came from two study phases: desk research and in-person interviews conducted in China.

Buoyed by a favourable economic environment and a strong currency, the number of Australian overnight visitors to Canada in 2011 increased 6.8% to 215,900. Australian overnight visitors also injected over $388.7 million in the Canadian economy, up 10.1%.
